About the Role
We’re hiring an R&D Tax Associate to join our costings team in Manchester. This is the financial engine room of the R&D claim — you’ll own the numbers that underpin every submission, working alongside our technical consultants to deliver robust, defensible claims for clients across manufacturing, software, engineering, construction, life sciences and more.

In This Role You Will
Partner with clients across manufacturing, software, engineering, pharmaceuticals and more to identify qualifying R&D activity and build accurate and robust claims
Produce technical and financial reports to HMRC standard, ensuring accuracy, defensibility, and commercial clarity
Work cross-functionally to deliver claims on time and consistently exceed client expectations
Own client relationships end-to-end, maintaining clear, confident communication throughout the claim lifecycle
Leverage Salesforce to manage pipeline, track progress, and drive operational efficiency
Stay ahead of R&D tax legislation, HMRC guidance, and sector developments to protect and grow client value
Proactively identify opportunities to maximise claim value and surface adjacent advisory opportunities
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes, methodology, and quality standards
What We’re Looking For
Degree in Finance, Accountancy, or a related discipline, with genuine interest in innovation and how businesses grow
Strong written and verbal communication — clear, confident, client-ready
Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative team environment
Methodical, organised, and sharp on detail
Comfortable engaging with clients at all levels and representing CBTax with credibility
